How to bring customers

Many people believe if they build a site that someone will find it and they will become the best website in the world. In order for that to happen, people have to find your site first. The best way to do that is to get indexed in the search engine in the top 10 or 20. The top search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN. In order to get people to come to your site you will need to do some things first. The first thing is to choose your keywords wisely. The most popular way search engines give results is based on keywords. Make sure the keywords you choose are in conjunction with your business.
Once you have chosen a keyword it is very important not to use the keywords too much. Overuse of keywords is called keyword stuffing. The search engines will penalize you for that. While it is important to have good keywords it may be more important to have better content. Content is going to get you ranked in a search engine. When you do SEO or Search Engine Optimization , make sure you keep in white hat. Never cloak or hide pages, don't use mirror sites which are sites that are identical but both link back to yours. These are examples of black hat , search engines frown on black hat.
Good content and honest SEO will get you ranked well in the search engine. If you have a unique site that there are many searches but not a lot of sites then you will do well. Keep in mind that you are not going to get indexed without good content and good keywords. You are not going to be an overnight success. It takes time to establish your site and it takes a bit of time for people to find you. Be patient.
You may want to place your site in a directory, directories are the newest trend on the web. Millions of people use directories to help them get new traffic to their sites. You can also establish a connection with someone who has a blog. You could work out something where they could mention your site on their blog and you could give them a link to your site.
Once your site initially gets ranked it may need some retuning if you are not satisfied with your rank. You may need to try a different SEO approach . Maybe you could try using a company or an individual who specializes in SEO . You will to pay them ( all rates and companies vary ) but they may know how to get a better rank for you the next time bots crawl your site .
If you are new to being a webmaster, sometimes when you aren't experienced in SEO, bad SEO can be worse than no SEO. If you decide you want to try a SEO company ask to see a copy of their code of ethics, most should say that they refrain from any deceptive form of SEO. If a search engine realizes that there has been black hat SEO then they will penalize the site which is what you don't want.
It is hard to bring new customers to the site. But with some patience and a little SEO work you will do fine. The key is to have great content , remember keep it original. Good SEO work is a must and above all have patience. You will not have a hit site over night, it just not happen that way so be patience and work hard and you will see results.

What is Google AdSense?

If you are new to the web and you are just putting up your first website , you may have heard the words Google AdSense before. AdSense is a advertising program that is controlled by the Search Engine Google. Webmasters can register their sites into this program which allows text, images and even videos ads to be placed on their sites. It does not cost you as a webmaster anything. The goal of AdSense is to make you money . The ads are placed on your site are working in conjunction with your topic . If you have a website about cats then the AdSense ads will be about cats. Back in the day and even today, some people are suing banner ads on their sites but in all honesty, banner ads are a bit annoying and no one really clicks on a banner.
The sites that are serious about monetizing their sites use AdSense for best results . The key is that you have to place the ads in a place on your site where users will see them and click on them. If you place your ads on the bottom of your page and someone lands on your page but doesn't see anything that they like they will leave the site without even seeing the ads. There are many different methods to use in order to get traffic with online advertising . You should have great content on your site in order to keep the user there so they can see the ads and click on them, making you money.
You have to present your AdSense in a way that Google approves of as well. You can never, ever say something like click my ads. Google doesn't like that but phrases like Sponsored Links and Advertisements above the Google Ads are acceptable. Next time you are on a website, look for the ads and you will see one of these phrases.
May 2005, Google revealed the AdSense for Feeds which is a version of AdSense that actually runs from RSS and Atom feeds that have a membership of over 100 people. This method works by placing an image into a feed. As the image is shown by the browser the search engine writes the ad content into the picture it is showing. AdSense has been a great source of income for millions of websites. But for 10 good sites then are always one or two bad ones that abuse the system.
AdSense can really pay out well if you have a lot of traffic as well as people clicking your ads. But there are one or two people out of ten who actually commit click fraud. The number one rule is do not click your own ads. Another way to click fraud is to have a person or software automatically click on your ads in order to bring you more income. Google is very sophisticated in the sense that they can tell when someone is clicking ads in your favor or trying to hurt your site. If Google feels that someone is committing click fraud then they will adjust the number of clicks and you will not get paid. If it happens on a continual basis then you may get banned. The other problem with AdSense is that you must total $ 100 in order to receive a payment.
Google will hold the check until your account has reached $ 100 . If you signed up and discovered that Adsense did not work for you and you cancel your account , no matter what the account balance is you will get paid. AdSense can be very beneficial to you as long as you follow the rules.

How Does a Search Engine Work

Before we get into how a search engine works, some people want to know why you even need one in the first place. The answer is simple, you need a search engine to find what you are looking for. It is like going into a huge library and needing a book on pets and not having any clue where to look. There are literally billions of pages on the World Wide Web and if you want to get the information you are looking for in seconds rather than hours then you need a search engine.
A search engine is made up of automated software which are called bots, crawlers or spiders. They are unleashed by the search engines and they do a survey on the web off all websites on the web and collect them into their databases. The information is analyzed and then the information is gathered from each web page on the website and then it is out into the search engine for indexing . Then what happens is that when you type in a subject into the search engine then they scan their data bases and then they give you results that are compatible with your search. The results start with the best and then count down.
When a bot scans a site based on how much information or how original the content is will determine the websites place on a search engine. That is why it is very important to be original if you are the webmaster. You want your site to do well in the search engines. The better you do the more results the search engine will give you. When you have duplicate content as someone else on the web or you hide pages from the bot the search engine will penalize you. That is the last thing you want.
When you are searching for something on the web, the most common form of searching is via keywording. This is how most search engines scan their databases. A keyword is any word that stands out on a webpage. For example, if you have a website about dogs and one particular dog like a German Shepard is mentioned a few times then the keyword for that page would be German Shepard. So if someone is looking for information about German Shepard's and they use that as they keyword then your page will come up in the search engine.
Now, even though keyword searches are very popular , some search engines will nit recognize a misspelled word and that may lead you into a different direction. Search engines like Google will offer you a do you mean? courtesy. In other word if want to use the Google search engine and you spell the word dog wrong and you spell it dog or doog as a type, the search engine will come back with did you mean dog? Then you can click on that it will revise your search. Not all search engines do that. So you would have to make sure that the words are spelled correctly.
Sometimes a keyword is too broad of a search so the search engines may help you better if you are more specific. Instead of German Shepard try putting in German Shepard behavior if that is what you are looking for. The search engine may have a better result than just a keyword. Search engines are great and they will get you the information that you are looking for but it is up to you to enter the right information into the search box in order to utilize the information that you are giving them.

How To Get Over 50,000 Visits to Your Blog in the First Month

Note from Caleb: A few weeks back I got an email from a reader of Think Traffic that said, “I launched a new blog one month ago, started out with a specific growth strategy in mind, and got over 50k visitors in the first month.”
You could say he piqued my interest a bit.
That reader was Peep Laja of ConversionXL. He used a simple formula to attract visits to his site and used a launch plan instead of just “getting it out there”. Read on to find out why he spent eight hours on each post and how he was able to get over 40,000 uniques to his site in month number one.
Take it away Peep.
***
I launched ConversionXL on October 31st when I published my first public post, on pricing experiments.
One month later, these were my stats:
In addition to this traffic, I got 600 RSS subscribers, a double opt-in email list of 700 and a bunch of new Twitter followers. Not bad for the first month.
Here were the strategies I followed to achieve this.

Write Long, Thorough Posts

Research into which blog posts are most linked to said this:
  • They’re long: between 2700 – 3000 words
  • Extra visual content attracts extra links: posts with videos, images, and lists will attract almost 6 times more links than a plain text post.
Neil Patel says you should write detailed how-to posts with proof and convey authority to ensure blog post popularity. Check.
My first strategic decision was to only write long, well-researched posts with lots of links to sources and great visuals. In order to make reading of these long posts a good experience, I focused on readability.
  • Font size 16px, since that is what our browsers were made for. That size font on a webpage is equivalent to the way text appears in an average paper book.
  • Line height 24px to ensure enough white space.
  • I use Georgia font because its beautiful and especially designed for computer screens. People who say serif fonts are harder to read are just ignorant. All standard web fonts are pretty much equal.
  • New paragraph every 4-5 lines. Empty line between paragraphs. Lots of sub-headlines.
Corbett says ‘write epic shit‘. There is no way around it. You won’t hit the jackpot every single time, but you should aim to.
Look at the traction some of the posts got (with no pre-existing audience, no relationships, no name recognition):
Okay, but what about user feedback?
I’ve blogged since 2008 and I’ve never gotten such amazing feedback in this short amount of time.
Either comments on the blog like this:
Or people mentioning the blog on Twitter:
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, writing long, thorough blog posts would be it.

Distribute Your Content

No epic content will help you if you don’t help the distribution along. People will not find your content by accident or via search if the site is new – lots of case studies show this.
I had 2 key strategies I followed in distribution.
1. Social sharing
Have you read Zarella’s Hierarchy of Contagiousness? You should. It demystifies social sharing of content and dispels a lot of myths with real data.
The hierarchy of contagiousness itself is this:
  1. A person must be exposed to your content to ever have a chance of spreading it. This means they have to be following you on Twitter, fans of your page on Facebook, on your email list, etc.
  2. The person must become aware of your specific piece of content before they can spread it. They have to read your Tweet or open your email.
  3. That person must be motivated by something (generally in the content itself) to want to share it with their contacts.
I followed the model to make sure my content spreads.
Here’s what I did:
  1. Since I only had like 2000 followers on Twitter, I needed additional channels to get more people exposed to my content and share it. In addition to sharing the posts on my Twitter and FB account, I submitted every post of mine to RedditStumbleUponSphinn andHacker News. You can only do so much to spread the word yourself, the content has to be able to carry its own weight. A ton of influencers picked up my blog posts either from these channels directly or via someone else spreading the word, bringing in even more traffic.
  2. Some people saw my posts, read them and because they were really good, they voted for my stories. That made even more people aware of the content and the content kept spreading.
  3. Because I worked my butt off to write really useful posts (6 to 8 hours per post), they offered a lot of value and therefore people were motivated to share them.
At the same time I made sure I was actively turning the visitors into subscribers – I added social sharing buttons to all the blog posts, invited the readers to follow me on Twitter, join my email list or subscribe to the rss feed. Oh yeah – 85% of the email subscribers joined via popup.People might hate them, but they sure are effective.
Content is definitely the key to getting spread in social media. Yes, writing these thorough posts is hard work and finding 8 hrs to write a blog post can be tough. But I think John Jantsch said it best:
The secret to success is to be willing to do the things that others aren’t and be prepared to do them for a really long time.
Most people keep on writing those 300 – 500 word personal opinion articles. Fine for them. Great for you. You know better.
2. Names, names, names
Both of the following statements are true:
  • The sweetest sound to anyone’s ears is the sound of their own name.
  • Entrepreneurs, bloggers and tweeters have (really) big egos.
I don’t remember which book I read this from, but there was a case study of a local newspaper that keeps on growing even when the rest of the industry is going downhill. Their secret? Naming names. They make sure they can add as many names (mentioned in articles, social events commentary, etc) to every newspaper as possible – people want to find their name (or that of their close friend / family member) in the paper and hence they keep buying it. Brilliant.
I decided to use the same tactic and I’d say it’s been a success. I make sure I reference and link to a ton of people and companies in my posts, and then I’ll let them know about it either over email or Twitter. Perhaps half the time they mention my blog post on their Twitter account, on their blog or they’ll just find out about me and start following my blog or Twitter.

The Best Strategies Are the Ones You Actually Follow

What I’ve described here is not rocket science. Allocate time and start doing it. It’s more fun than you think.

5 Easy Tips for Getting 100,000 Visitors to Your Blog Posts

Are you tired of slaving over your blog posts, only to find you end up with seven readers?
If so, you need to change what you’re writing about. Probably where you’re publishing it, too.
That’s the word from Copyblogger associate editor Jon Morrow, whose own new site is the wildly popular Boost Blog Traffic.
Jon is a longtime mentor of mine, and I had the privilege of meeting him in person and attending his presentation on how he gets big traffic at the New Media Expo (formerly BlogWorld).
He’s the author of three separate blog posts that have notched over 100,000 views, including On Dying, Mothers, and Fighting for Your Ideas.
In his NMX session, he analyzed the success of his big posts and spotlighted five elements the posts all have in common that helped them get massive traffic:

1. Write Something that Changes People’s Lives

Most bloggers write about what’s going on in their own lives, without much focus on whether it’s helpful to readers. Instead, think of what you could write that would make readers’ lives better.
Can you give them hope? Teach them how to make more money? Help them have happier marriages? Think of what important life change you could create for readers.
“If you do this right, it will change your career forever,” Jon says. “People will remember, and talk about the post, and follow you forever. So write something worth remembering.”

2. Connect to Broad Topics

Most blogs have a niche topic they discuss. But for your super-viral post, think of where the intersection is between that topic and a broader topic — something nearly everyone can relate to. In the case of Jon’s post above, his topic is illness, life and death…and how his own illness and survival have shaped him as a blogger.
While not everyone blogs, everyone has a finite life span and is interested in the issue of mortality. And everyone has a mother! So this post immediately had a broader potential audience than a typical post about blogging.

3. Evoke Explosive Emotion

Maybe your post really pisses people off. In the case of Jon’s post above, it made hundreds of people cry like babies (me included).
“I intended for that to happen,” Jon explained. “You need to plan how people are going to feel about your post.”
Why do you want to trigger these violent, uncontrolled emotions? Because tapping those emotions creates a strong connection between you and the writer –and because people tend to share more when they’re emotionally moved.
How do you know you’re getting it right? You’ll get the occasional email or comment from a reader who’s so mad at what you wrote that they are quitting your blog. “I’m happy when I read that,” Jon says. If you’re not provoking anyone, your writing is probably too bland to attract a big audience.

4. Surprise or Shock People

There are a million blogs out there. To grab people’s attention, you have to tell them something they haven’t read other places before — something that wakes them up. In Jon’s post above, it happens when a doctor tells his mother he will die in babyhood…but she refuses to believe it.
Build suspense and then reveal your surprise. You’ll have readers on the edge of their seats.
“Say things people do not expect,” he says. “If it’s expected, it’s boring.”

5. Put Your Best Posts on Bigger Blogs

Many bloggers tend to save their favorite ideas and posts for their own blog. But that won’t get you wild virality. Instead, write your hottest, most provocative ideas as guest posts for the biggest blogs you can, Jon says.
On a popular blog — for Jon’s niche places such as Copyblogger and Problogger — you will get orders of magnitude more traffic than you would on your own, smaller blog.
From there, you’ll have a better chance of catching what Morrow refers to as “the jetstream of traffic” — a huge crowd that troops over from Twitter, StumbleUpon, or othersocial media platforms to view your post, and from there goes back to your own blog to check you out. Those new readers then grow your own blog’s audience (and can be a great way to get you the exposure that leads to more freelance writing gigs, too.)
To get the most mileage from your big guest post, build relationships with prominent bloggers in your niche beforehand. Comment on their posts, offer to guest post for them, connect on social media, and respond to what they say.
If you know 20 big guns in social media, you can send them each your provocative guest post. Then you can sit back and watch it draw a huge crowd, thanks to the influence and larger audience of your big-blogger friends.
If you think you can’t break in and guest post for big blogs, try them, Jon says. You may be surprised at how receptive they are. Guest posting is a great way to build relationships with top bloggers.
“They’re always looking for awesome content,” Jon says.

Make Money Online in Pakistan, Earn Rs. 30,000, Get Verified Adsense Account

As inflation in Pakistan climbs to sky high rates, more and more people are looking for alternatives to make money to make ends meet.
Many of these people turn to the internet as a source of income and majority of them get caught up in a web of deception spun by scammers and con artists. In fact a study claims that the top cyber crimes in Pakistan are financial crimes.
Why is it so attractive?

Making money via internet is attractive for a number of reasons.
The comfort of sitting at home and generating income is massively appealing. Add to it that the only investment is a computer and an internet connection and you’ve got yourself a potential goldmine.
Scammers count on this desire to make a quick rupee, to achieve their goals. Everyday one gets hammered by an unending stream of emails trying to part you from your cash. But now that most people are aware of the risks of junk email, scammers are turning to more inventive ways to cheat people out of their money.
Scamming has reached new heights these days with the saddest development being this trend spreading fast in Pakistan with our own people trying to cheat us out of our own money.
Minting Money in the name of Registration Fee!
One example is the now defunct rozzgar.tk. This website claimed to be an advertising agency with connections to various companies in Pakistan. They tried to lure people into the concept of free cash, namely, by offering money to display ads on websites and blogs even if they received zero traffic.
Too good to be true? Well, yeah. The catch was that they had a registration fee. They offered different packages, with the expensive ones offering more money to host ads on your blog. You might be rolling your eyes on how could one fall for such an obvious scam but estimates suggest that they managed to acquire around 4 million rupees in the space of one month, before shutting down. Thousands of people lost money and when the scam was reported, they just disappeared with all the money.
Trapping in the name of Adsense:
Undoubtedly, if you have interesting content to offer and you wish to generate some money from your efforts, Google Adsense is your best friend. It has been referred to as the online moneymaking machine. In a sense, it is just that. Blogs with high traffic are generating significant amounts of money through Adsense.
But with it comes a generation of scammers hoping to exploit its popularity. And surprise surprise, this seems like a popular way to commit fraud amongst our fellow country men. Some rely on fake checks they claim they received from Google, and offer information on how others can do the same by visiting a specific site or signing up with a program which costs money or it could just be a link to earn the scammer in question some money. Take this for example:
Scammers use various techniques to get your attention, few being:
  • They claim to increase ones Adsense earning many folds by unraveling the “Adsense secret” for a meager amount of money. But the truth is that there is no secret to that.
  • They offer lists of certain golden keywords which they claim can help to generate more traffic and clicks. And it can help to earn more revenue per click. But Google itself offers these lists to facilitate the process.
Not only this, one can come across banners of people offering up to 30,000 Rs for working only a few hours a day using Adsense. Alarmingly, even our newspapers are starting to display these scam ads (given above). Most of
these scams hit people who are new internet users or particularly the jobless.
Get Verified Google Adsense Account in Rs 500: Another Fake!
Keeping in light the amount of fraud committed by countries like India and Pakistan,
Google has complicated the process of obtaining an Adsense account. It requires unique content, your own domain, and that your blog be older than 6 months to get an account.
In fact, we did an article on how Adsense was being exploited as early as March 2009.
Sadly, now that an Adsense account is not easy to obtain, exploiters are now offering “verified Adsense accounts” in a few hours for money. It’s a scam. Don’t fall for it.
Ahsad Javed did a detailed post on Google Adsense Verified Account fraud here
Implications:

Google has strict security policies and when it uncovers the amount of corruption being done in Pakistan in its name, it may ban Adsense which would badly hit thousands of people in Pakistan, specially our bloggers.
As I draw to closing this post, I’d just like to say that be smart forget about the notion of easy money. And don’t fall prey to the vultures in wait in the cyber world, it only spurs them on and gives our country a bad name.
Here are a few websites you can read to help you understand the nature of cyber crimes and how to stay clear of them. These sites also offer tips on recognizing scams.
How to Earn Money Online?
Okay, this is also a fact that earning money online is possible. But believe me that’s not as simple as these newspaper ads suggest. If you want to money, keep following things in mind:
  • You can earn money, if you have a skill that others may get benefited of over the internet. For example, development, design, data-entry, proof reading, writing content and so on. To read more on this click this link:http://propakistani.pk/2011/01/28/how-to-earn-money-internet-in-pakistan/
  • If you want to earn through adsense, then be informed: Adsense only favors highly visited website. So now its in your hands on how you make your website popular. Maybe by adding very very interesting and useful information, so that every other web user come to you website.

The idea of online money making is attractive to many because of the benefits it offers. Primarily, because of two main motivational factors:
First, the lucrative potential of the internet, as one can earn in dollars.

Cataloging the different ways to Make Money Online
If you perform a basic search on Google, it will reveal many ways to make money online and most of the websites listed in the search results pages seem to focus on the same methods of earning money.
I thought it will be a good idea to categorize and compile a list of the online money making methods available so that future visitors will have a reference point which provides them with all information they need.
This list uses a rather broad categorization, which I believe covers most of the ways to make money online. More methods and examples of how to make money online are added regularly to our list.
1. Set up a Blog or Website for Profit
One of the best ways to earn money online is to create a website or blog which allows you to earn money from the display of advertisements or the sale of products and services.

There are many different types of money making blogs which will help you to make money and you will need to pick a model that suits your interests, schedule and skill levels. A simple no frills blog will allow you to easily pull in at least several hundred dollars in a month through the use of paid blogging websites alone.

For more information, check out webdevelopmentseo's and forumpakistan's archive of articles on how to make money blogging. Apart from blogs, other websites can easily help you to generate passive income as well. These can range from e-commerce websites, social communities and information portals to basic article pages for affiliate programs.

2. Learn about Affiliate Marketing and Art of Selling
This involves promoting a specific product or service and earning commissions whenever the referred user makes a purchase based on your recommendations.

Affiliate marketing is a big and profitable industry that covers a wide spectrum of topics and fields. If you have got an interest in fitness, you can make money promoting fitness videos or courses e.g. videos to loss your weight. In fashion wear, you can earn commissions by recommending friends to clothing or t-shirt of companies which are offering affiliate programs.

The amount of money you make depends on what you are selling. If done correctly, affiliate marketing is one of the most powerful ways to make money from the web. Advertisements.pk, Amazon, commission junction and Click Bank are few biggest affiliate market places that you can use if you are branching out into affiliate marketing.

3. Start an Online Business / Website
Starting your own online business or company allows you to make money off the provision of specific services or products you may have. Some examples of popular online trades include web design, web hosting, online shop to sell your products, copywriting and internet marketing.

It is not difficult to start a business. It is all about hiring the right people or having enough knowledge and connections within a specific industry. You should do some in depth research before you decide to settle on a specific niche for your business. webdevelopmentseo.com is the most reliable company to develope your online business website at very reasonable prices, they also do optimization for your website / online business.

4. Try Out Domaining and the Online Real Estate Trade
This is the business to purchas, sell, develope and making money from domain names. A domainer purchases many domain names and sells these to interested buyers. This is similar to real estate investing offline and domainers also make money by developing websites and reselling it to a buyer.

This practice is known as site flipping and can make you a tidy sum of money if you know how to build an attractive and profitable website. For a rough estimate of how much money you can earn from site flipping, check out the SitePoint Marketplace to browse through the collection of websites for sale.

5. Participate in Surveys
There are hundreds of websites out there which you pay you to do surveys, sign up for trial subscriptions, online data entry. Websites that pay you to complete offers are worth examining because they usually include affiliate programs with recurring commissions to be earned.

The benefit of get paid to websites is that you do not need to have your own website or any personal skills at all. The downside is that there are a lot of get-paid-to scams around and finding websites that are legitimate can be fairly difficult.

There are also many social media websites out there that will pay you to participate in their community. This collection of social media websites usually operate via a revenue-sharing system, which allows you to earn a share of the overall ad revenue. How much you earn depends on how much your submitted article, video etc..
